Modern technology has been developing at a staggering pace, contributing massive changes regarding the way we live, yet art seems to be the sole survivor along scientific revolution. It has never been eliminated, and, in my opinion, several following reasons can justify its tenacious survival.
Human kind values art from two major aspects: personal preference and economic value. The former is also considered a driving motor determining the latter in the modern art world. The diversity of artistic work derives originally from life, including foods, clothes, paints, and even human behaviour, which provide each living individual with physical objects to satisfy their needs and interests. For instance, a Harry Potter poster was valued more than 15,000 dollars in the year 2014 US auction when the last film was released. This example reflects people's desire to pursue their affection thus thriving the popularity of art as well as its value.
Although arts and science appear to have distinctive roles to play in modern world in which their contributions are measured, the former sometimes outweighs the latter. Mankind are sensitive beings that require motivation and satisfaction to adopt a consistent lifestyle. A piece of symphonic music, a well-known painting, a favourable text and so on are filling our life with joy and passion, preventing us from mechanical and calculating work and study pressure. In addition, collecting artworks is a popular behaviour worldwide among those who have already fulfilled their basic needs, which contents the collectors in a way that hardly can be provided by other means .
In conclusion, artistic combination will always exist and serve our life with a sole purpose: enlightenment of life, and that is something technology nowadays can not yet replace.
