Actually, all the memorable lines from the songs I’ve heard before flashed across my mind. So I guess I might as well just talk about the line ‘ the show must go on’ from the song bearing the same title sung by the rock band Queen, who earned a worldwide reputation with dozens of hit songs that topped the chart and became all-time classics.

The line ‘the show must go on’ somehow struck deep into my heart and left a big imprint on my mind ever since.

　　I mean, this line basically was like a raft I held fast to when I was floating on the sea of self-doubt, pain and disappointment. I mean, back then I was down and out, thinking I was an underdog in the society who amounted to nothing. I couldn’t find a job that could help me put food to the table. I suffered from back-to-back defeats in the entrance exam for postgraduate programs and to crown it all, I was in a quagmire cos I felt depressed from time to time. I tried everything I could to chase the blues away and raised my spirit. But it didn’t work out at all. It all changed the moment when this line was sung aloud from the loudspeaker by Freddie Mercury. It struck a chord with me because of his powerful voice and touching interpretation. I found solace and inspiration in it. Thinking of it, my life also resembles a show with many unexpected twists and turns. If not for these twists and turns, we wouldn’t have found joy and surprises. We would just feel a sense of boredom and lost our interests or hopes in everything. Also, the show has to go on no matter what happens. We take the final curtain call only when we reach the end of our life naturally or we give up on this life. So, with this new understanding of life’s meaning, I summoned up the courage and found a job with a satisfactory salary eventually.

　　So…you see this is a line constantly reminding me of the strength I carry inside all along. It gives me the courage to beat against all the odds when the going gets rough.
